To the tune of Twelve Days of Christmas

A little back ground on why I re-wrote this song.  My daughter, IM has Chromosome 18p-. Part of what  this means is that she sticks with it, sticks on it and just basically gets stuck. So, she is learning the 12 Days of Christmas and is singing, singing, singing it!  Hey, you know, different is good:)

So Monday morning a verse related to her school popped into my head, because this song will not leave my head now.  Her school mascot is the sharks, thus the first and last verses. Also, due to the shark theme, there is a fish tank in the main hall.

Well, IM’s first love was Elmo and Elmo’s fish is Dorothy. This tank has 5 Dorothy fish—do not try to change their names. They are all Dorothy—told you she gets stuck. :) Well she used to feed the fish on “good days.” If you know goldfish, this is not good if it happens daily. Well, she was good LOTS! So, sick fish. Enter the best school secretary of all times! She bought a Beta Fish to sit on her desk because they can be fed daily.

Now, the best school secretary ever is a vegetarian. Why is this important? Because IM’s favorite food is pepperoni! And, wait for it…the vegetarian secretary named the fish Pepperoni! I think that is enough back-ground on the song….

On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me a shark in shark tank.

On the second day of Christmas my true love gave to me 2 Pepperonis.

On the third day of Christmas my true love gave to me 3 Dorothy fish.

On the forth day of Christmas my true love gave to me 3 wiggly hamsters.

On the fifth day of Christmas my true love gave to me 5 smiling children.

On the sixth day of Christmas my true love gave to me 6 happy classrooms.

On the seventh day of Christmas, my true love gave to me 7 big recess balls.

On the eigth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me 8 great books reading.

On the ninth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me 9 children singing.

On the tenth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me 10 painters painting.

On the eleventh day of Christmas, my true love gave to me 11 jumpers jumping.

On the twelfth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me 12 bright red shark slips.

By the way, she wants to write verses 13-100 because 100 is her favorite number. Yes, for both versions. :)

Ciao from a proud and different Momma!

About Susan

Hi my name is Susan M. I am the mother of 2 daughters. One is 17 years old and one is 7 years old. Both are very special girls. However, IM, the 7 year old has some extras in her package. She has Chromosome 18p-. What this means for IM is she has many medical concerns. She sees lots of doctors and goes to OT, PT, and speech. What this also means is that we are challenged daily to celebrate life as she does. There are MANY celebrations often. And we happy dance for them all. She loves to sing, dance, run, jump, play with friends and play pretend and teach us all about life in IM's world! In spite of the long list of might nots and probably wonts, she is a very bubbly and verbal and active girl. We celebrate life and differences daily. Thanks IM for helping us to focus! Hugs all! Susan
